A Melbourne-headquartered company offering air conditioning services in Victoria is offering to pay up to $150.1 million in compensation to customers who complain about air conditioning quality.
The firm, Air Conditioner Solutions, has offered to pay its customers compensation for the quality of their air conditioners over a period of three years, it said on Monday.
“In order to comply with applicable laws and regulations, Air Cooling Solutions will pay up until June 30, 2019 the compensation that we are entitled to under the Companies Act 2018,” it said in a statement.
It said it would only make such payments for those customers who reported a problem with air conditioning and have not yet been contacted.
“The compensation payable will not include any costs for our staff or any administrative costs incurred in processing the compensation claim,” the company said.
The Victorian Government has set up a taskforce to investigate air conditioning complaints and is considering setting up a new department to investigate the issue.
The Victorian government is also reviewing whether air conditioning is being adequately monitored by air conditioning companies.
In the meantime, customers can still complain about a problem using the complaints form on the company’s website.
